2. The alterations are:-

(a) Head 11 Royal Observatory.

The Anemograph at the Peal: was wrecked in the

typhoon of September 2nd. This type of instrument is

always liable to damage in high winds and it is proposed

to replace it with an instrument of the same type as that

in use at the Royal Observatory which has survived many

typhoons unscathed. Sub-head 13 on page 37 will therefore

be altered as follows:

(b) Head 20 - Police force.

The scale of salary shown or 30 Cantonese Sub-

Inspectors on page 50 is canzoneous. The correct scale is

$900 to $2,750 by 2 increate of $100, 1 of $200, 2 of

$100, 1 of $200, 2 of $150 and 3 of 1250 annually. The

provision for these Sub-lamp vetors accordingly may be reduced

from $28,359 to $20,145, all a corresponding reduction

appears on page 46 under Sub-head 1, Personal Emoluments,

a saving of $224

(c) Head 21

Prisons Department.

Two changes will be made under this Head.

(1) Sub-head 21, Tuwport, will be increased

from $10,000 to 40,7 10. This is rendered

necessary
